Thessaloniki Airport 11 Feb 2024

Post by IMarsh » Tue Feb 13, 2024 12:41 pm

Whilst taxi-ing at Thessaloniki on Sunday afternoon 11 Feb 2024 I noticed 3 Canadair Cl - 415 parked on a far apron, a quick iPhone photo through the aircraft window seemed to show serials blacked out - any ideas? Also over towards some HAS shelter I could see two C-47's at least 2 possibly 3 F-5's and something else but struggling to identify from rubbish iPhone photos - if anyone has any idea of any of the serials, much appreciated.

I’m counting 5 x F-5’s in the second pic, also don’t think the serials are blacked out on the -415’s it’s just a poor picture.

Thanks and yes on working a little more on the photos, which I agree aren't that good as they were taken on my phone through the aircraft window as we were taxi-ing, I agree that there are 5 - F-5's. However the Cl-415's do appear to have their serials under the flight deck windows taped over as does the Greek flag and small serial on the tail fin. I have better software back home to try but here I only have my work laptop!

The roundel and fin flash are clearly seen(although blurred), on the CL-415’s in the above picture, the serial on the tail is totally obscured by the mini fin on the horizontal stabiliser or whatever the proper name is for it.

I concur - and I doubt you could ever resolve the images any better given the conditions and equipment.

Annoying on my return flight today (16th) we taxied close to the three (probably the same three) CL-415's, but I was on the wrong side of the aircraft to get a decent view. Also caught a glimpse of what could have been a Mirage of some description . Oh well!

Planebase has C47 92613 there, and 6 active CL415s
