Anyone note which aircraft took part in the flypast over Athens on the 4th?

32-13 F-35
509 Mirage 2000

I cannot remember. We were sitting at our hotel near Megara in the afternoon having drinks when they flew past.

Then I think this was your formation. We were at Andravida almost all day (except for some time spent at the local police station).

Some locals saw our car parked, quite some distantie from the airbase. They called the police, so we had to pay them a visit. It seems I was lucky to have put my camerabag in the bushes, so we were allowed to leave after a short time. If we had camera’s with us, it could have cost us a lot more time

Likewise if it was at another time of the year outwith the Iniohos spotter days.

I’ve always said that the locals will notify the authorities if they see you hanging around anywhere near a base, and with tensions increasing with Turkey on a weekly basis at the moment you have to be very cautious. Glad things didn’t go pear shaped for you.

The police also warned us. It’s not the police that is having problems with us spotters. It’s indeed the locals that are very alert on any “suspicious” behaviour. They even told us it was OK to go back to the airbase, but ”watch out for the locals”. All in all, they were quite relaxed, and it wasn’t a bad experience.

Nice log. Here are a couple of additions from photos.

Hellenic F-16s 608 068 and 076
Hellenic F-4Es 01501 and 71750 were parked outside the shelters
AMI F-35A MM????/32.07

Hope this fills in some gaps
Mike
