Post by STRATO2003 » Wed May 28, 2025 2:21 pm

Getting itchy feet done NAS Sigonella ,done USAFE Ramstein, next up thinking NAS Rota for a bit of USAF action.

Anyone been ? got any experiance ,locations ect, looking a bit limited from shots ive seen and no guides anywhere ,guess its a dockyard as well pushing things away a bit further.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Big base, you are a long way from the action and heat haze a real problem. The beach on the west side is a good spot for arrivals if wind from the east, similarly there are some options on the east side - fine for photography on larger aircraft. Helicopters flying are possible, when I went last year they flew over the beach to the south of the airfield and with patience you could get some reasonable shots. Most stuff tracks on ADSB, and the Spanish Navy have never been very busy when I have been there.

Scramble have an airfield guide.

You need to take a good book, it has never been very busy when I have visited.

Good luck!
