Hi There
Wonder if someone could please help I am building a pair of Lightning model kits belonging to 11Sqn both carry German Air Force Waffenschule 10 ( WS 10 ) zaps on the nose a reminder of a Sqn exchange in the late 70s ? ,but I cannot find any info of the serials/tail code or the names of the pilots nameplates on the nose would anyone please know.

Many Thanks

There are photos of two aircraft with WS10 badges on the excellent FaceBook page English Electric Lightning Appreciation Group. One is F6 XS901/G with what looks like FG Off A JAMES, the other is F3 XP695, code is not visible in photo name is FG OFF S C MANNING.

XS901 had dayglo patches applied for the 1978 Binbrook show.

Fairly sure one of them ended up as a decoy on the west side of the airfield. Here's a pic taken in the mid '80s. Seem to remember looking @ the zap through' powerful bins and establishing that it was German. Does nt provide the info you're seeking but maybe of some interest nonetheless.

Hi 'Lightning Force' by Fred Martin has a starboard side picture of F.6 XS901/G wearing the WS10 zap and the day glo panel at the top of the tail. No pilots name on this side of the aircraft. 'EE Lightning' by Martin Derry and Neil Robinson has a port side picture of F.3 XP701/O also wearing the zap. There is a pilots name but unfortunately its not discernible in the picture. Hope this helps

One last thought - S&M Decals did a 1/72 Lightning decal sheet that featured XS901/G complete with zap. The product code is SSM72004.
