Colourful Hopsten 2001

Post by hvaneupen » Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:56 pm

One of my favourite open houses was Hopsten 2001. Of course because of the mighty Phantom but also due to the weatherconditions with bright sunshine and dark thunderstorms. The German Air force presented 7 special painted aircraft!
Sorry for the large amount of scans...

Fantastic selection of front line types, beautifully photographed, and so colourful compared with most aircraft today. Thanks for posting.

Lovely stuff Harold, it was indeed a great show with all three coloured Phantoms together. You must have been fairly close to where I was for the flying, on the blast mounds?

Certainly had to hunker down during those thunder showers, but at least they held flying the specials until the sun came back out!

Great shots.

Fabulous set of special schemes, esp the MiG-29. Luftwaffe never seemed short of paint (or man hrs) unlike the RAF!
