Once in the West, China Lake 93, Gordon

Post by Gordsmith » Wed Jul 06, 2022 10:28 am

Here are a few shots of a place which does not seem to be often visited. They had a show in '93 and we trundled up there. To say that shooting was a challenge is putting it mildly, straight into the sun for the flying. I have managed to salvage the static, but little of said flying. Some very interesting gear and you might like to identify some of the types in the lineup of oldies. Enjoy, Gordon.

Lovely shots. Yes, an F.111B. 7 built, no production due to changing requirements.

I thoroughly enjoyed this set Gordon, somewhere I still haven’t visited but would love to go.

So many classic airframes that have passed into history, as I get older, it feels like it was only yesterday that they were flying. Thanks for sharing.
