Once upon a time in the west, Point Mugu 29/4/97

Post by Gordsmith » Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:45 am

After the hectic events of Nellis and El Torro, I went to Point Mugu for some old fashioned “spotting” from the outside, There was plenty of action, but quite a lot of it was “circuit bashing”. As I could not be sure that this was a repeat approach I potted the craft anyway, so there are repeats. Of other interest was the load under the two F-4s from Flight Systems at Mojave.
Gordon.

Wowsa Gordon, plenty of different and interesting paint schemes on that batch.

Looks like some tough scans light-wise as well.

Good stuff though, thanks for sharing.

I don't know what the pod is on the second F-4 but it looks like a pave tack pod as it has what looks like a swiveling ball in the back of it maybe it is maybe it isn't but I know the Air Force quit using them on F4 due to the drag factor

Thanks for sharing these, an interesting selection of shots. I like seeing all the different C-130s with some interesting looking modified noses.
