I didn't want these to end!
Quality that wouldn't be out of place in 2006,let alone 1976!

Just to add to previous comments about unlucky airframes, RF-104G D-8133 was written off on 1/12/81 and RF-4E 3581 crashed on 6/6/86. Happily, there were no fatalities in either incident.
Once again, thanks for posting these lovely photos, which seem to have brought back happy memories for a lot of us.

I think I’d call that little bunch ‘saving the best for last’

Thanks for these add-ons, loved looking at them all.

Just a superb collection Mike
K25 was my choice too, it was just affording it at the time
but had a good contact in a local chemist shop who would do me a deal on bulk packs.
With some TLC as you have given the slides they look as good as the day they were taken.
My first St.Mawgan was in August 1980 .. I remember a touch and go by French Navy P2V-7 Neptune 148334 / 334 from 25F as a real treat.
A couple of nice USN P-3's were based for the week including 160291 from VX-1 and RP-3A 149667 'Project Seascan' "El Coyote"
Really enjoyed looking through these, thanks so much for posting

This is a truly fantastic set of photo's, expertly taken of a bygone era when we had such a great variety of aircraft in service. Thanks for posting, and to the youngsters that are on here. This is what us older generation grew up with. !
Cheers
John.

Re: St. Mawgan International Air Day 1976. Picture heavy.
Always a risk going for 25, especially flying shots but it's paid off in spades here Mike. Glorious selection! Is that the St Athan hack JP 4??
Re: St. Mawgan International Air Day 1976. Picture heavy.
According to 'Airport Data's XS177 :- "Operating from RAF St. Athan in 1990, this was then the sole remaining Jet Provost T.4 in service with the Royal Air Force." A few years prior to my photo, it was with the 'Macaws' display team. I don't know where it was based or with which outfit at the time of the photo but it appears to be currently stored in bits at Gilberdyke, Yorks. for restoration.

What a fantastic set of photos. Quality subject - quality scans.I was going to post up my own shots at this event but after seeing yours I think I'll just go back and see what else I've got instead! I remember this as one of those excellent shows of the 70s that we thought would go on forever.....

Magnificent. Looks like a great show with great weather. Super photography. Thanks for sharing.
Re: St. Mawgan International Air Day 1976. Picture heavy.
Trying to work out the unit crest, it does look like St Athans. Only other unit it could be is CATCS but the crest doesn't look like there's, or indeed, Shawbury. I note the Macaws wave on the tip tank. Cheers Mike, lovely stuff from great days and so well shot and processed.MikeH wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 4:52 pmAccording to 'Airport Data's XS177 :- "Operating from RAF St. Athan in 1990, this was then the sole remaining Jet Provost T.4 in service with the Royal Air Force." Superb work and historical captures. I was stationed at St M 2004-06 in that very hangar with the Sea King HAR 3/3a. Despite the start of the demise of the Station, the 3 Air Days there were great fun, but the range of aircraft could never match what you so brilliantly recorded.
