Dar Es Salaam W&R's

Post by xkekeith » Fri Nov 08, 2024 8:16 am

A quick transit through Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar Es Salaam provided the opportunity to take some quick record shots of the withdrawn aircraft which have not moved for many years.
Apologies for the quality but most were taken through the dirty perspex window of a taxying Cessna Caravan which was delayed due to a VIP movement (see below...):

The Government Flight / Air Force area - the Noratlas has been here since at least 1999:

Two BAe748's that are in poor repair.... Ex Government BAe748 5H-RJN is ex 5H-STZ, Cessna 400 series fuselage plus the wreck of unidentified ex Tanzania AF jet ?

Government Flight Gulfstream G550 was in the shelter:

Hidding behind the BAe748 one of the two Harbin Y-12's operated by the Air Force:

By the Fire Station, C-47A previously operated from Zanibar:

And the VIP movement which caused the delay, TGF Fokker 50:

Keith,
A lovely set. A K-8 wreck is also visible, plus AB412 JW9505 (missing its tail rotor).

Thanks for sharing these with us, some very interesting types there. Nice to see the Noratlas clinging to life.

Nice.

I remember a similar Rwandan Norrie at Kigali in 2010
