Fantastic!

The airshow shots were possibly Cranfield 1974 - I was at that show and I remember the TSR-2 being on display and being amazed at how large it was and especially how high it stood off the ground.

Wow - great shots these! Thanks for sharing them!

Do you know which airframe it was?

Oh - and I think this shot should actually be this way round, judging from the orientation of the aircraft around it. Hope you dont mind me playing with it. :)

Quality rare snaps there! Has the first shot been reversed? I'm assuming the Sea Hawk didn't have the Royal Navy titles applied backwards!

Ben,

It was....

XR222 BAC TSR-2, (c/n XO-4) structurally complete and systems 20% fitted by 6.4.65, fuselage transported to Cranfield 23-24.10.65 followed by the wings on 30-31.10.65, fitted with wing tips from XR223.

Great photos, these deserve a wider audeince suggest you offer them to one of the magazines

Image three is really interesting as it shown the incomplete Hawker P1121.

The other frames are of course the CF-100 18393 (now at Duxford), Sea Hawk WM994 (srcapped) BP111 VT935 (now at Coventry) and Me163 191659 (now at East Fortune) and Swift WK248, or it could possibly be the Supermarine 545 which was scrapped at Cranfield around that time.

Great Photos, got any more ???

They are certainly interesting although the hangar shot does indeed appear to be the wrong way round.

Shots of 222 at Cranfield are pretty common but it's rare that you see colour shots taken inside the hangar.

Incidentally, the reason why it appeared so tall when it was placed outside was probably because it was a virtually empty carcass by that stage, so there wouldn't have been much weight on the undercarriage.

MCB - where did you get the details of the wing-tips being from 223?

Very good pics in color from 1965,
and how intresting that most of the aircraft in the pictures are still around in museums.
