Some nice shots there. Great few days to be in the area. I think your Russian is a Ka.31 rather than a 27 though.

Phil - Reports at the time said the Helix was a Ka-27PS, c/n 88610.
I am no expert, but from what I have read - the Ka-31 had the winch removed, and the under nose electro-optical suite reduced in size.
Glad folks have enjoyed some different helicopters.
thanks,
Pete.

Remember this event well, it was actually the last in Portsmouth of the International Festival of the Sea. It was preceded by the Trafalgar 200 Comemmorations which consisted of an International Fleet Review in the Solent in which all the above ships took part. The Queen reviewed the fleet with a flypast, a reenactment of Nelson being taken out to the Victory, Red Arrows display, tall ships sailing close by and then one of the best firework displays I have ever witnessed. At around 2300, the fleet of warships then switched on their decorative lights, a spectacular sight. The day after that, the majority of the ships entered harbour for the festival.
