Sea Harrier Thread

Post by StevenNFFC » Sat Mar 28, 2020 11:16 pm

This thread has been attempted before but a lot of the photos have been deleted and are unavailable. Please post your photos of the Fleet Air Arm Sea Harriers here - dig out the old slides - it might help during this lockdown period!! One photo per serial unless the jet is wearing a different paint scheme.....

Good luck....

Serials in red have been covered. Also, please note flight line pics will only count the first aircraft in the photo.

Great idea to keep everyone occupied during these challenging times. Looking forward to see more images of the SHAR.

Here's a couple to get things started.

Here are pics of SHARS in the three colour schemes of the different eras and from the three Sqns. Looking at my SHAR pics on only very few is the serial distinguishable. Located on the tail skid and only a couple of ins. tall it was necessary to get either side or three - quarter rear views to be sure of getting it and almost impossible with flying shots. Altho invisible in the 1st. pic it has been confirmed by a reliable source (the IAT book). I seem to recall that another Sqn. (809?) was formed during the Falklands War and pics of its jets are v. rare as it was short lived. If anyone has any I'd be interested in seeing them.

I thought it looked really smart in the original pre-Falklands scheme, esp with the red 800 NAS badge like XZ454 above.

Are you going to change the serials in your opening post to red once a photo has been posted of each aircraft? That's what we used to do with other aircraft types in the past, I think the only one we managed to complete was the RAF Tucano fleet - with TomG completing it with a very rare photo taken at Lossiemouth just before ZF316 crashed in Moray.

Just a thought. :)

Edit :- Many thanks for amending your original post. :thumb:
