Air Mobility Command Museum, 2007

Post by Razzor01 » Sat Jan 09, 2021 1:39 pm

Carrying on with my 2007 NE US trip I visited the Air Mobility Command museum on the edge of Dover AFB, Delaware.

You are greeted with this very well preserved T-33A, 52-9497 in MATS markings.

I still have the fridge magnet I purchased in the gift shop.

Once inside the museum there is much to see, but with the size of most aircraft operated by MAC / AMC they are quite tightly parked, which makes it a bit tricky for clean pictures.

Great museum to visit and I'm sure there have been many additions since my visit some 13 years ago.

Comments, corrections always welcome.

A great selection there, one day I might actually get to this place. Always liked seeing C-124s, thank you for putting these up.

Great post and museum, Stewart

Seeing a Voodoo takes me back to being a nipper, sitting on the south beach at Lowestoft watching them fly low over the sea on their way back to Bentwaters

Thanks for posting :thumb:

Morning Patrick. Same for me when watching racing at Silverstone. Voodoos in and out of Upper Heyford. :) Lovely pictures of a golden age of aircraft. Saw a C.133 Cargomaster flying just once in England, but plenty of C124 Globemaster 2's.

Another first rate post with photos of many of my favorite MAC heavies including the Globie, KC-97L and the massive Cargomaster. Definitely whetting the appetite for another US road trip!

Very interesting. Love the KC-97 (probably because it takes me back to when I had a push along Stratocruiser toy as a kid).
Sadly never got to see a real one.

great pics, can remember the C-124`s and KC-97`s when I worked in the officers mess in the early 1960`s the B-47E`s were based there as well as the B-47`s on reflex.. was a sight worth seeing when they had an alert and the reflex B-47`s started up

Nice set of shots Stew and a great collection too. I was walking in your footsteps around this place exactly a year later (one of Clive's American Oddyseys), unfortunately when we arrived there was a car booty going on with all the stalls congregated around the exhibits, flogging crap! To make matters worse we'd just left the Andrews Open day early (because someone wanted a few f****** Galaxy numbers :grr: ). But an impressive museum nonetheless.

Some more nice views and I don't think anyone will mind a few additions. Thank you!
