Thorpe Camp Lightning XM192

Post by LTFT5 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 6:57 pm

Hi to all,

Image

Photographed at Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre in the village of Tattershall Thorpe near Coningsby Map Ref TF216597, postcode LN4 4PE. Two very kind ladies allowed me to photograph the Lightning but the light was fading quickly so it has been heavily processed. This visitor centre is well worth a visit and has many exhibits depicting RAF Woodhall Spa and its Squadrons and civilian life in Lincolnshire during WWII. The centre is now closed until Easter 2010 opening times can be found on their excellent website below:

Please do try to pay a visit to help perserve an important part of Lincolnshires Aviation History.

Whilst there keep your eyes open for a picket hamilton fort and an airfield arrestor gear, both of which came out of RAF Woodall Spa , courtesy of my mate Rog and his company Cemex.
Very interesting place and well worth a visit.
