Five a day - Part 86

Post by haveblue » Fri Mar 25, 2022 2:26 pm

Final post for "Five a day" at least until next winter, and if there is more I'm afraid most of the real rarities and exotica will have been done already. For those of you that enjoyed it I thank you for your interest and any kind comments received. For those that didn't it will be a relief that it's ending! Finishing with one of my all time favourites and, fortunately, we were blessed with a few visits from this type at Lossie. Never thought it was ugly despite it's SLUF nickname. First memories of this aircraft was a picture on a plastic model kit box, in bright markings, and carrying what seemed to be a hundred snakeye bombs (a bit of an exaggeration I know). Like the A4 I thought it was an amazing little machine for what it could carry, and it looked good too. Anyway, hope you enjoy this final instalment and have a good summer, with aviation included or otherwise.

Have really enjoyed these, thank you for the time and effort putting them up. Makes me think I should do the same from the other end of the country at St Mawgan in Cornwall...

Thank you for a fantastic series of photos. Some were memory joggers but most fell into the "if only" category!

Another brilliant set of images from in my opinion the best RAF Station for visitors back in the seventies and eighties, thank you for all the effort taken in keeping us amazed over the weeks you have been posting.
Cheers.

Thankyou so much for these posts. They have been an absolute delight, and a reminder of how much fun being an enthusiast in the old days was. All the best, and can't wait for next winter.[ only for the pictures, mind you] Kind regards, John.

A wonderful set to finish your series, Alan. Looks like you opted for the pillbox to get the Forrestal A-7s whereas I went to the fence, but we might have been standing near each other for the flypast!

It's been a great series and you've provided some happy memories from the good old days at Lossie and Kinloss. Thanks for all the work you have put in to keep us entertained.

A great conclusion Alan (well semi conclusion until next autumn!) - brilliant photos of the SLUF!

I echo the sentiments of all - brilliant set from start to finish and always something to look at each day - thank you!

Enjoy your summer and look forward to more soon

Darren

One of my favourite US types.

Thanks for a great set of posts - you've got us through the miserable months and sun is now shining.

 What a fitting way to bow out for now. Probably my favourite aircraft of all time. Never got to see any USN examples and that last shot epitomises the markings of the time. Got to see Portuguese and of course Hellenic examples, but still too few. If only I was born 10 years earlier.

Thank you for all your efforts over the past few months, it’s certainly brought home just how dull and few and far between today’s offerings are👍🏻. Hopefully you return later in the year, looking forward to it already.

Great finale to a wonderful series, absolutely love SLUFs

Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to put them all up, really enjoyed them, some of them evoking fond memories and way too many of them outright jealousy.

Cheers
