I love the smell of AVPIN in the morning...

Post by Fibrous Freddie » Wed May 18, 2022 8:55 am

I love the smell of AVPIN in the morning... (actually it's not a nice combustion smell!)
or... I love the sound of AVPIN in the morning TRUE!
.... and if you surfed it certainly wasn't on the internet.

It's had to believe that the defenders against the apocalypse were kept safe by a small wooden fence! Crash gate three...
Those were the days my friend!
There would be a hiss, a whine, and a whoosh, followed by the spooling up... and a little later the jets would taxi past the little fence. If you were there you know what I mean.
Lots and lots of short sorties and many, many approaches and circuits. Fabulous times.

Six slides that haven't seen the light of day for more than thirty years. (The same shots that everyone else has, only theirs are a bit better!)
No variety of type here... sorry; however there are a variety of marks and schemes, (and image quality)!
Maybe more to come...
Enjoy (or not)

Freddie

Fantastic way to start the day with a set of Frightening shots. I also spent many hundreds of hours there - but on the opposite side of the airfield.

Brilliant set. They are good shots and not being 'pristine' (thats not a criticism) just makes me feel more like i'm back there then, but now :)

Fantastic - really wish I could have experienced Binbrook.
Thankfully I have memories of watching Lightning displays - still very much missed from airshows (as are airshows themselves!)

Thank you for the great images, must be honest and not sure why only went to the last show at Binbrook and boy was it wet but memories that me and my dad talk about regularly.
Cheers
Rob
