Seven more from days gone by... mainly airshows this time. If you were there you have already seen 'them'; if you were not then here's some of what you missed! (In the seventies I was told that I'd already missed the 'good times'!
Back with a bit of variety (but still with a Lightning for the afficionados).
I always liked the Harrier GR3 with the LRMTS... One of my best aviation moments was when driving in Scotland and 'giving way' to two very low GR3's ascending a valley near Torridon... a few years later I was passed by a pair of Tornados at about the same spot but it is the Harriers that stick in my mind. Just a few seconds was better than any airshow.
The Frecce shots are quite poignant for me... Very sadly I've seen a few aviation mishaps including Brawdy, Fairford, and Mildenhall, and a chunk of skin detach from a phantom and pass near me at Wattisham; however standing crowd centre at Bentwaters the week before Ramstein and then hearing the news a week later shook me up much more than any of the others. Looking back on it, even in those 'less risk averse' days the manoeuvre seems insane.
I've found some slides of the 'Fairford migs' before their incident... I may scan them. It all needs a bit of perspective.
On with the 'smudges'... Enjoy (or not)!

Well remember the very wet last Binbrook show where I think that Lightning pic was taken!

Great set of classic jets. Wouldn't have said that by the 70's you had missed the best shows - it was just a case of there being more of them and we never knew what to expect. Much more fun!

Biggin Hill 1965 (BoB 25th!) is the first I can really remember! Fabulous Vulcan.

Hi FF
Talk about saving the best till last
I too was at Bentwaters ‘88 and thought the Frecce were a bit cavalier by pulling a full routine, when the Reds only did a rolling one as there was too much cloud
Viggen was a real groundshaker with the ‘burner plugged in
Thanks for posting

Thanks for sharing these, another great selection. Yes, that Lightning shot was Binbrook in 1987. Thanks for digging out some great memories too.
