Once upon a time in the west, lot-2 9/91 Gordon

Post by Gordsmith » Tue Jun 21, 2022 9:48 am

Following on from Buckley and despite not really liking museums, I drove to the Air Force Academy and then to Lowery AFB. First a few from Buckley that I missed off of my original post. Gordon

Thanks for sharing these, an interesting selection of shots with some interesting types. I note the X-4 in one shot, I've got a print of that one somewhere, that I was given years ago. Nice selection of F-86 variants too and that's a very early B-52 as well.

Hi Gordon
Thanks for sharing these images. The X4 46676 is the standout one for me. Not sure where it is now but the only other one 46677 is in the museum at Wright Patterson and it is on my bucket list of aircraft to see before l die.
You have been very lucky in life to have seen these historic aircraft and your posting of these images will hopefully inspire a new generation.

Another fantastic selection.

X-4 46-0676 is stored at Edwards according to PlaneBase.

Thank each! I must confess that I am having a wonderful time strolling down memory lane. As a point of interest for the oldies among us, these are all from negatives. I never took slides. Goodness knows how long one had to anticipate the return of said film and prints, the annoyance that something you thought would be a great shot and it turned out to be rubbish! The days of instant gratification via digital were, for me, a long way off...yet I miss the anticipation, waiting for the results of my efforts. I know I am old but it seems so easy today. My advice for all "do not grow old", Gordon.
