Back to the scanner... it takes so long to tackle some of the dust and grot.
Hope that you enjoy...
Well... this could well be BoB 25th Anniversary at Biggin Hill... or not! I think that it rained later.
I've found a box of my slides inc. G-ASXX, Lightning, Buccaneer, Argosy etc. I reckon they are untouched in a box since 1970. The box is labelled '16 Giant Fairy Snow 4D off'... so pre-decimal!
I was there with a borrowed camera having pestered my father from whom I got my love of aviation to take me... He'd been at Biggin Hill in 1940 (aircraft radio/electrics) and had mixed feelings about re-visiting. As far as I'm aware it was the only time he went back.

G-ASXX has an interesting on-going 'history'... read 'The Last Lanc' by Patrick Kilvington. An excellent book detailing the journey from Australia to Biggin Hill.
All for now... will get the scanner going.

Love that first shot, very atmospheric. Living near Biggin Hill, the Air Fair and At Home days were my usual show visits in those days. Mention of the Lancaster reminds me that I did once see it fly and I do have a copy of the book mentioned (somewhere), it didn't fly much after it returned from Australia.
The other pic of the Vulcan I assume is at Yeovilton, with the Sea Heron and French Atlantique in the background. Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks...
It's to fully absord the sights and sounds that turned me away from imaging. The whole experience...
For an old man there's a conflict between creating memories and images that I didn't feel until I was in my 40's!!! (Same as concerts... camera/video stays away, but I'm delighted that other's produce a record of the event from their viewpoint).
