Hello all, some pics taken on a visit to Luke AFB in October 1982. The quality of the hardware was well worth the price of a sunburned neck! Hope you like them.

Wow, certainly a great mix of types there. What unit were flying the -104’s, was it an overseas (RoCAF?) air arm training unit?

Hello Thunder, I assumed at the time they were operated by German crews, but I might have been mistaken.

The F-104's were used to train Luftwaffe crews. From memory, although flown in US Air Force markings & serials most (it not all) had a West German serial allocated but not worn. When retired I believe most were transferred to the RoCAF.

Yes indeed! You'll remember better than me, but I think either we turned up way too early for the tour or it was delayed, and those nice people in the Public Affairs Office directed us to where we could photograph inbounds to pass the time!

You've got me there about the tour timings.
I will always remember being on the approach with the 104's landing. Damn it was hot
The Buick never let us down

Absolutely stunning shots of F-104s, thanks for sharing these with us. The T-33 and camo F-4 are nice to see as well, but overall, a great selection.

I was there in October 1981, and yes they were operated by the LUFTWAFFE/USAF as the 69thTFTS 58thTTW and they had LUFTWAFFE tie-up's
From a personal view I logged 53 - F104G's/TF104G's

Thanks a lot for sharing these pictures Terry. A real joy to see them. It brings back good memories of my visit there in 1978 when Graf Zeppelin was so kind to arrange the visit for me.
Best regards, Arnold
