Brilliant Invader was the largest Air exercise of '95 and brought nearly half the RNoAF to Leeming; squadrons of F-5s and F-16s, a Falcon 20 and a Hercules. In addition 899 NAS was deployed there with Sea Harrier FRS.2s. Altho' I did not take any slides of the F-5s I've scanned a couple of prints as I believe there's a certain member who has a slight attraction to them.
Think that's down to the human activity e.g. pilot climbing down ladder in #6 and ground crew (incl female) in #9 and they were the genuine article and not the re-enactors you get @ photoshots these days who are so obviously posing. They ruin the shots for me as so obviously unauthentic.
Blimey! Don't know how I missed this one, great line up too. Nice shots Mike. Like Patrick I also have soft spot for the little Northrops - wish Hobby Master would produce some more.
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
Great pics, thanks for sharing
As a southerner now residing in York, I would be very happy to see a "Brilliant Invader" type Ex. held at Leeming again!
