Came across these images of probably the finest aircraft ever designed and built in Yorkshire and thought it would be a pity not to share. Some of you have probably forgotten what a proper aircraft looks like.

Thanks for sharing these, another sadly missed type, some great memories of these. Nearly thirty years since they finished.

Now that's someone who appreciates a proper aircraft!

I saw 3 yesterday. Elvington keeps them looking really smart.

Ahead of its time (just like the TSR2) with so many innovations. I hope that the Tempest proves to be another world beater!

And to think that the RAF did nt want it, because they were too proud to accept the Navy's cast offs. Turned out to be one of the best Strike a/c they ever had. Much better than the F-111 they were supposed to get and to which they had to turn to help out the Tonkas in the Gulf War, which was their curtain call. Did you all hear about the ultra-low Brick on Red Flag which took out a telegraph pole and just kept on truckin'! Incredible but true folks. That's how we build 'em up here and how it got it's moniker.

You're very welcome mate. Always happy to post a few Bricks. Thinking of maybe doing a little homage to the Brick in the forthcoming Ch.Fenton airshows book as there was one on the programme most years and the HS ads for skilled fitters in the '60s programmes are pure aviation history gold!
