Thanks for sharing these with us, some great memories. Nice to see the Italian contingent, including F-104Gs, also a couple of RAFG machines too.

Fabulous! My mate managed to get tickets to this one and I was very envious when he showed me what had turned up a few days later!

Cheers guys :thumb: Sadly because of the 'post Ramstein clampdown' imposed that year, there was no West German participation. :(

Superb set. Those distant Cottesmore Family Days always produced a good static display.

Cottesmore Families Days were always a treat - the flying displays were low key but the variety of German and Italian aircraft that visited was amazing. Think it was at one of these days that I saw my first ex East German An-26's. We oldies saw the best of times!

These are lovely. I was at the arrivals for this one, weather was a bit mixed when the F-104Gs came in but nice when the G91Ts arrived, certainly a good mix of types attracted with the three nations being based there.

Great post.

Lovely shots Mark, these brought back memories of the day, Starfighters, Phantoms and Tornados, superb. I got very burnt, my shoulders were in bits, really badly blistered but i still had a good day. The things we did when we were young like walking around shirtless without sunscreen doh!

Let's be honest, after Ramstein we should all think ourselves lucky that we ever got to visit another airshow again. Slowly creeping towards 40 years since that tragic day, and it's still as terrifying today as it was back then.

Getting back on track, what a superb variety of types. We were also fortunate enough to "know someone who knew someone" that got us into a few in the early 90's (we didn't ask the details!) and there were some really interesting types, especially Italian. Always a good day out!

They had a B52 flypast one year, airfields always seemed scorchin hot or freezing cold. Cottesmore both at the same time. :)
