Wrecks and Relics...

Post by SteveS » Sun Feb 07, 2010 8:09 pm

Following on from Goose's Falklands wrecks thread, it was mentioned this would be a good idea for a whole new thread. So here it is, showcasing your photographs of aircraft that remain where they fell.

This may be of the Falklands wrecks, aircraft left in the Peak District or Snowdon, or even a dig you've been on for a wrecked aircraft. There's plenty of stuff still scattered around, particularly on the higher ground areas like the Dark Peaks.

To kick it off, one of Goose's, which I'm sure he won't mind me re-producing here;

Come on, let's see them, this could be an interesting thread

Here are a few wrecks that I've photographed over the years on rambles in the Peak District...

B-24J 42-52003 crashed 11/10/44 (close to a major footpath this one)

RB-29A 44-61999 "Over Exposed" crashed 3/11/48 (probably the most extensive wreck in the Peaks, only about a mile from the Pennine Way)

Sabre F4 XD707 crashed 22/7/54 after colliding with XD730 (this wreckage is near the Snake Path, but there are other bits scattered across Kinder Scout)
