Historic Helicopters Nightshoot 3

Post by RobinM » Thu Mar 02, 2023 10:06 pm

Historic Helicopters Nightshoot 3 as organised by Threshold Aero. An evening during which the Helicopters showed their age and didn't quite perform as expected. However, a thoroughly enjoyable night with the helicopters under the stars. Lovely to see "Marine One" flying from the storage area to the grass and then ground running under the stars. Overall a great evening and the perfect location with the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter as a bonus.

Would you mind saying what went wrong?

Nothing when wrong as such. It had been hoped to ground run the Wessex but she wasn’t having it. Also, the amazing ground team had spent all day getting the Seaking flightworthy and we were rewarded with a dusk flight onto the grass although it had been planned to fly this in the late afternoon rather than a dusk but it flew and that is all that mattered on the evening.

Good to look at, particularly the Wessex blades. That brings back memories of night flying Mk 1s

Lovely set and the second picture has Orion as the background.

My favourite is the last Wessex picture.

Lets us hope the VH-3 can grace the UK airshow circuit (what's left of the circuit that is...)

I believe the plan was to wash the temp paint off as soon as the night shoot is over.
