A bit off the radar for European spotters maybe, but Stuart seems to attract good participation from military demo teams with its slot at the end of the season and was well worth the trip over.

Logistics were not too bad, I decided not to drive so flew into Miami and headed north via the rail link and Uber to a hotel within walking distance of the airfield. I ended up doing a lot of walking which is fine but be prepared for Florida humidity!

Arrivals were quiet, but there is a nice grassy area next to a small grocery store at the western approach where you can hang out. I wouldn’t recommend the showground for photography, as you’re south facing and about 450m from the runway but it was a pleasant experience with some interesting statics and the entrance fee goes to local good causes.

For viewing outside the wire there were some good spots south of the runway, the best of which was in the car park at the end of SE Airport Rd from where you can get a clear view of the runway which is about 175m away. The road is closed by the Police on show days but you can still walk down it.

Highlights were the twilight show on Saturday which was started by the F-22 and F-18 demo teams, round chute para drop from a nice C-47, and the A-10 demo team retirement displays on the Sunday.
