RIAT Wednesday Arrivals

Post by slinky1989 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:21 pm

Hey guys, my first post here but a long time lurker!

Wednesday was my first time at RIAT since I was 5 years old and my first time photographing aircraft, so it was one hell of an experience! Loved every minute. Must say though, I did feel very outgunned by some of the pro photographers as most had Nikon D3s with lenses the size of artillery guns whilst I was there with my D200 and tiny little 55-200mmm F4-5.6.

Need to hire a better lens next time!

Anyway here are some that I took:

Last flight of VC10 serial: XV104/U as it does a fly past on it’s way to Bruntingthorpe for scrapping.

Finally, the last aircraft I saw that day due to having to go get the missus from work:

Nato E3 AWACS – Kudos to the crew for this one, two awesome fly pasts and ridiculous banking with the break. Couldn’t have made a better entrance!

Well that's pretty good for a first time effort considering the adverse weather conditions you were working under, well done. :thumb: Addictive isn't it, before long you'll be on the lookout for a bigger lens, then a bigger camera then a ..... ;)
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

Cheers guys! Yeah, A couple of germans next to me were making me very jealous. I managed to sneak a pic of their kit as frankly their lenses could only be described as RIDICULOUS:
