here's a few of mine from the Navy show on Sunday - 3rd visit this year and not been disappointed yet - a wonderful place to spend a day / evening.

I spent ages waiting and practicing on other displays to get this shot, not quite perfect but still pleased with it, Royal Navy past and present - and flying the flag!

the downdraught from the rotors was so strong it made all the lenses swing to the right!

sorry Herky, hadn't been around for a couple of days and missed your question.

I was using a Sigma 150-600C for the flying shots (on a Canon 70D), I've also got a Sigma 18-250 on my 600D that I use mainly for the ground shots or if I want a wider aspect (I used that for the Swordfish / Merlin shot)

I was well back from the fence line apart from when the Edwardians flew, around the Merlin area but moving about a bit to get angles that I wanted AND I was on a small folding stool to get a bit of height over the parked cars - an extra 18" helps when you're only 5'6"!

You should be able to see the exif details on the flickr images to get an idea of settings and the actual focal lengths.
