A look back at 2022

Post by Professor_M » Fri Dec 09, 2022 5:12 pm

Seeing as I don't have any outings planned before the New Year, here's a brief summary of some of my outings this year...

A very slow start until July and RIAT.

The Skyhawk finally made it...

Then there were the helicopters...

Having boiled at Fairford, Farnborough was soaking wet (only the Falcons dropped out on the day due to the weather though, the Red Arrows didn't conduct their flypast due to ejector seat issues). Here's a couple of Only-Really-Seen-At-Farnborough highlights...

Having not seen 'Pegs' since the conversion to two-seater, I thought it was perhaps the most considerate two-seater warbird conversion out there...

There were also a few visits to Cambridge Airport, Mildenhall and a very misty Lakenheath...

A couple of nice catches, especially Farnborough shows some rare beasts. Fairford was a good edition and it shows... I am not especially a warbird fan, but the light in your Duxford pics is the best in this series imho. It is a modest selection as it comes to the number of opportunities you display here, not been able to get out more?

Cheers, Bart

Thanks for the comments, Bart. Yes, Farnborough still gets a handful of types you won't see at any other UK show, and that is what makes it worth attending. Duxford did get some good Autumnal afternoon light recently, although normally just before or after a rain shower!

As for getting out more, it was slow getting going with things in the way, but having more time on my hands and a move nearer Mildenhall means that I hope next year will bring more outings (I must try to get down to Stansted too, perhaps, to catch some of their military visitors).
