Sigma 17-50 2.8/ 17-70 2.8-4.

Post by reaper493 » Sun Jan 13, 2019 2:36 pm

Hi all,

I need a new standard zoom lens, having regrettably sold the one I had last year. I had the Nikon 17-55 2.8, which has doubled in price since I bought it a number of years ago.

I've narrowed the replacements down to the sigma 17-50 2.8 and the sigma 17-70 2.8/4.

Does anyone have any experience of either or both and can recommend?

Both have OS (not massively worth wile at this length) and HSM, with the 17-50 having a fixed 2.8 max aperture and EX glass. I'm edging towards the 17-50 at the moment....

Mike,

using the 17-50 2.8 and it is brilliant. Very sharp. Very happy with it. Ordered this lens in HongKong for €238,- which is around £215,- No experience with 17-70 2.8/4

Cheers,
Fred

Thanks Fred,

That is the way I'm leaning to.
