I have the R5 and my partner has an R7 - both the R5 and R7 have focussing issues. The best way to help it is to use back button focus ( and ideally dual back button focus ) , have one mode set of vehicle tracking and the other on say spot or zone focus .
You will need to practise and get the muscle memory in before you try properly - I find the best is to practise on cars ( the bonus is they think its a speed camera and you get various honks of disapproval - winner ! )
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....
Canon R7 focusing
Re: Canon R7 focusing
I've been to Coningsby recently with my R7 as part of the learning process moving from the 7D2.
I've been using it to shoot Birds in Flight recently so used the settings from - https://youtu.be/vxbfFm79qdg?si=3uwAGvANGc8QQKMI as a starting basis.
Key for me was making the Focus case 'Sticky' to prevent loosing focus when fence posts etc. get in the way.
I also swapped from full electronic shutter to 1st Curtain.
