Uploading to Flickr - what resolution do you prefer?

Hi
I have been on Flickr for a couple of years now and have always reduced the resolution of my pics to 1200 X 800 or 1200 X 675 when uploading to Flickr and also that resolution matches FC requirements.
I just wondered what other people's preferences are. Is it better to save fewer high resolution images to Flickr for future proofing etc?
( I still have the original high resolution image on a separate hard drive)

I usually keep the file size below 1.5MB and around 1600 pixels in length but never considered resolution before

Longest edge of 1600px at 72dpi are my "go to" upload settings, giving me somewhere between 1.5 and 1.75MB upload size.
Generally I'll then share to forums at 1024px on the longest edge. I have the original file backed up, of course, and often I'll go back and re-edit the RAW file (best thing about non-destructive editing!)

Got to be honest, I'd never considered it. I normally resize my photos to 1000px (longest edge)...Now I understand why when I look at them on Flickr full screen, they are all blurry !!!
Dave.

Thanks
My files that I up load range from 333kb to 340kb !! on disk for images that are 1200 by 800 pixels
They look ok on a tablet but quickly lose definition when zooming in
By resolution I simply mean the number of pixels in an image (1200*800 = 960 000 pixels) perhaps I really mean image size - I often get confused with dpi and image size
I am only using < 1% of my free space on Flickr so should upload larger images in terms of pixels.

All mine on Flickr are scanned from slide. The scans themselves are 3600dpi jpgs of about 4500x3000 pixels which I then edit down to 1500x1000 pixels with a file size of just under 1Mb. I have plenty of room left on Flickr for all those slides still to scan and hopefully the digital images when I get round to all them too.

Original image size! Always have done, and then when I upload to FC and click 'share BBCode' I chose the correct resolution. Looks much better on Flickr when you upload original sizes.
For reference, I shoot in RAW (22-26mb per image) and then export to JPG after editing in Lightroom and upload the edits.
Also, I use OneDrive as a cloud backup solution which gives me 1TB and is easy to use - fantastic bit of kit.

Same with James, Flickr Pro is great as a photo backup, so I upload processed images at the highest resolution I can.
As he says they look better, but only I have access to the originals, with just the 1000px images free to look at.

In your account settings here is a tab header called Privacy and Permissions and an option for "Largest Shared Image."

Worth noting that if you want to get 'Explored', you need to be uploading at at least 1600px on the longest side.

Thanks for the information
I think I need fibre optic to upload 20mb! But definitely going to increase my default size perhaps to 1600 px length
What happens when you view a larger file ? Do you just get a 'size to fit' for speedy viewing and only if you zoom in for more detail does any more data get downloaded?

It depends what you have set as the maximum size to view. Flickr just produces re-sized versions of what you have uploaded.

I only realised this recently, had a couple 'explored' since I started uploading at 1600 but they do chose the most unexpected and not necessarily what I'd consider the better of my images.

It's an algorithm, Mate. It's not subjective at all. All seems to be linked to favs, comments and getting people to interact who don't always. For most people, you can only get Explored once in each 10-day 'window', too. It's quite frustrating (mainly because of that last point), I find!
