i'm thinking of buying a cheep eos 50d as a back up for my 600d any thoughts or comments,and does anyone know what the iso increments are on the 50d

Good camera, I've had one from new and still using it, 3500.000 shutter count still going strong.
The iso as selectable increments.

I think its a good choice. 15.1 mp is ample for most things anyway. Can't see anything wrong with it.

The answer to your initial question re ISO increments is 1/3 and 1
C.Fn 1 : Exposure
Option 1-2 ISO Speed Setting Increments
0 : 1/3 Stop
1 : 1 Stop

SO Ive just been out for a few practice shots and i noticed that in manual mode auto iso wont go past 400,in sports mode the camera seems to go no higher that 1600 iso is this normal for the 50d?it does'nt happen on my 600d

Hi Mike S,
I used two 50d's for many years and didn't have these issues, having said that I rarely used auto mode, however I think it is normal but someone else may know better, it's a good few years since my 50d days..
The Auto ISO is dependent on the mode you are using:
The Basic modes and Auto ISO = 100 to 800
If in portrait mode and using Auto ISO = 100
Manual and Tv mode using Auto ISO = 400
Sports mode is a range from 400-800 using Auto ISO
Program, Av, and A-Dep mode and Auto ISO yields a range from 400-800
I think this is correct.

thanks Pune,it was really tricky trying to shoot lorries and vans at f8 at 1/400 sec with 400-800 iso it was coming out 2 stops under exposed,in the end I ended up using tv mode at 1/400 f4-5 with auto iso produce decent results, somethng i'll have to get used too I guess!
