Sensor cleaning

Post by John flightpath » Wed Jun 10, 2020 7:00 am

I have been reading an article in last weeks Amatuer Photographer mag about cleaning your camera's sensor. It is actually quite a subtle advert for the Eyelead Sensor Cleaning Stick. There are 2 kits to chose from. One with fluid in and one without.
What are people using to clean their sensors, assuming you are doing it yourself and not leaving a pro to do it. ?

Thanks
John 'flightpath'. :)

How did you find this to use EGVP, and what were the results like?

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

I use a similar kit with fluid. It's easy enough to do as long as you take your time and follow the instructions precisely. (if the instructions say 2 drops of fluid, use 2 drops!). Only do it if you have sensor snot on your photos, don't do it regularly for the sake of doing it. I've only done it twice in about 5 years but have a practiced routine for changing lenses. There are different swab sizes also, so it's important to get one that's the right size for your camera sensor.

Here's one I have for my Canon 80D - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1

Works well, did take a few attempts though! Just watch a couple YouTube tutorials and it's not too hard to do :)
