LP-E6 batteries.

Thes LP-E6 batteries are for the Canon Eos 5d mk2 and mk 3 etc. I see there are various alternative makes out there. Anyone got any recommendations for non canon batteries.I have noticed that alternative makes have a greater MaH ie, they store more power.

Not quite, more storage capacity to deliver the same power output for a longer period.

I never pay for Canon's own. Currently I have Enegon 3000mAh, and ESDDI 2000mAh both from Amazon and more than the original Canon 1885mAh as well as a fraction of the cost. If the reviews are OK then I go with the best deal.

Wex has a HAHNEL - HL-E6 at £42.99 Compared with CANON's at £114
when I spoke to a sales team member, it was stated whilst these are good enough for the old EOS.5 Mk.III & IV
they don't really cut the mustard with today's newer model's ( mirrorless )

I've been using the same 3rd party batteries on 40D, 70D and now R7 - no issues at all with performance

Likewise - 6D now R. Lasts pretty well. When I have a "full" day out shooting then probably one change.

Researched this subject & elected to hedge my bets on the following:-

I've done around 20 recharges on each set so far this year & their performance is undiminished in each case. I use 2 each time in an R5 with a Canon bg-r10 battery grip, which will last all day with over 2500 actuations, (or weeks of occasional use) setting a short review time & doing minimal 'chimping!' These also give full spec' camera performance with max' shutter-speed & I'm that confident in them that I only carry a single Canon battery on a day long shoot as an emergency back-up, just in case they should fall-over early?
I'm pretty sure Canon don't make their own batteries, so somebody else must do? Naturally the choice is yours, but I can't imagine paying £115 -120+ for a Canon Hologram Battery when the exact same item is available (post-free) on Amazon for £91, with zero risk! If it's a dud,send it back FOC too!

I still use the Canon battery I got with my old 7D Mk1 13 years ago in my 5D II, III, & IV bodies, still going strong. None of the aftermarket batteries I've bought ranging from cheap ebay through Duracell and Hahnel have gone the distance. Having said that I haven't done a proper cost analysis so can't say what has been the best value for money. I shoot music festivals in the summer, carting any unnecessary kit about is to be avoided so holding a decent charge is my priority.

Well this is the thing. I know some of you may not approve. But, I have taken a calculated risk, as I am not a pro photographer. On ebay I found batteries called Bonacell so I have bought 2, with a charger that works off a USB lead. I have bought a similar battery set as back up for my Canon 750d, probs 3 years ago and they have worked fine. They cost me about £12.00. The LP-E6 batteries and charger cost me £20.00. I will report back with my findings. btw the 2 new batteries are 3200 Mah. against about 1800 Mah on the old Canon and Hahnel batteries that came with my used 5D mkll. I will let you know how it goes.

Always bought non OEM batteries, but changed to an R6ii last year and the old ones won't run the electronic shutter. I spend £2.5K plus on a new camera and baulk at a £100 battery.
Anyway bought 2 Neewer LP-E6NH and so far they work in all modes. Not sure they last quite as long as the Canon battery but they cost half the money.

Different camera model but one of the LP-E5s that came with my outfit in 2010 is still going strong .The other is lost in my study(fell out of charger ages ago)and I got a replacement through ebay which has been fine for the 6 or so months I have been using it.Maker is DSTE.Only £15 for 2 inc postage .Temp solution but getting longer as cant find original.Would imagine they do LP-E6 Variant

Can I add to this topic, that I have just been posted an E.mail from WEX advertising a new battery replacement in the guise of MATHORN - MB-202 Ultimate
which is a replacement for the Canon LP-E6NH - Retail's at £39.20 and has a limited 3year Warranty

Well I needed more Batteries. Big holiday booked for May and a further camera added to the bag So off to Amazon for more cards etc and up this pops.....

Bought the twin pack with the original style of charger when I got my R6. Never bothered to use the single Canon battery that came with the cameras as these 2 are always in the grip and offer me all the power I need.
