I'm guessing they won't be landing at Edinburgh, just intercepting the C-17(s) once airborne.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Re: A400M from Northolt
Wonder wether the Typhoons will hold somewhere then join up in the Airport Airspace?
Re: A400M from Northolt
The Typhoons are at Leuchars 4 of them. Have been there since the weekend aswell as 2 Chinooks
Re: A400M from Northolt
Yes, CG6 is just off Burnshot by the river Almond. It's one of the better places for getting sight of various aircraft reasonably close by. Not sure about the airport car parks as it's been ages since I've had to park up there.109sqn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 11:12 pmNot being one of the regular spotting crowd, I'm not always sure of the identities of places from the names used. Is Crash Gate 6 the one accessed off Burnshot Road, as marked by the parking "P" on this map?
And how many of the spots on that map are accessible at all times? 5, 6 & 7 obviously, and the multi-storey car park (3) (though I've never been tempted by that one). But are 1 & 2 always accessible, particularly to non-drivers?
At present, the wind is a light westerly for tomorrow, so presumably Runway 24 will be used.
Edit: removed spot 4 from discussion as it is seemingly no longer an option.
Hoping the Typhoons are going to be in Edinburgh.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: A400M from Northolt
The Typhoons will probably either fly down the Runway or join up just to the West after the plane departs Edinburgh - who knows?
Re: A400M from Northolt
My source from Northolt and it was all over the news this morning.
Re: A400M from Northolt
At CG6 now, no restrictions, but starting to get busy.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: A400M from Northolt
Thanks for the confirmation. As 24 is the active, I'm going to head to the west end of the airport.
Re: A400M from Northolt
No problem, it's very busy here on the mound by CG6 just watching a Jet2 departure about to take off.
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: A400M from Northolt
I'm on the south mound by the windsock. Give me a wave! :-D Crowd mostly filtering away now.
Re: A400M from Northolt
Nah, zed all. Just watched the C17 take off. Did wonder where the Phoons were!
Well that's PLANE to see!
Re: A400M from Northolt
A rumour that was started by someone that likes to have a laugh, of course they didn't show!
Re: A400M from Northolt
Didn't get your message in time! Or I'd have tried to wave over!!! I was practically glued to the camcorder and binoculars! I was updating other folks and my wife as she was going to film on her phone from our bedroom window.
You never know, we might meet at CG6 at one point!!!

Re: A400M from Northolt

Off-topic, kudos to the Ryanair co-pilot who stuck his hand out the window and waved to the boy and his parents behind me - made his day. And he waved at the rest of us too!

There was a Lauda Air arrival which gave me the simple pleasure of doing the old, "What airline is that?", "Lauda", "WHAT AIRLINE IS THAT?!!" joke to the lad. Simple pleasures!
