Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
So if it was an A.400 last night & not the expected C-17 how can we know wether the rest of the list is correct? Suppose we’ll just have to wait & see I suppose?
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Thinking it was a C-17 Globemaster III, I chose Blackford Hill

Blackford was going to be my intended vantage point too. So glad I didn't make a two-hundred mile round trip just for that!!
Entering LL 30 miles NE of Leuchars

a a400 how wrong people get wrong
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Everything is always subject to change - I'm happy enough there's flypasts in the first place, I don't care what turns up, as long as something does.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Brize was closed due to repairs to the runway yesterday, so they pre-positioned an A400M to Northolt on Friday evening to use for Saturday's flypast instead of the planned C-17.
Hardly any of the general public would know the difference between a C-17 and an A400M anyway, so does it really matter?

Hi guys I caught it at carricknowe https://youtu.be/DVLm_AeHEps
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
To be fair, the guy did include “subject to change” and if I remember correct, the listing for the flyover was a C-17, but was changed due to logistical reasons.
At least the guy contributed and gave a heads up, didn’t notice yourself posting anything to help others. Be thankful we have people on this forum that are willing to give information. Any flyover is good, even if it’s changed aircraft.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Can’t recall you getting any information correct in the past Colin…
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
It was indeed, the Atlas was put on as a fill-in. Military spotting is subject to change? Who knew!
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Mixed feelings about the Reds today Friday because a) it's the Reds (yay) but b) no F35B (boo), as I've never seen one in person. Who knows, maybe one of the other flypasts will end up being a Lightning II. I'd take that over the C17, and a P8's just a glorified 737.

Shame on you!Dave Smith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 9:57 amAnything to drown out the noise from those darn pipes... hoots a way
There’s nothing that “beats” the sight and sound of the massed bands of pipes and drums. That said, the picture of A400 with the background of cloud takes some beating too.
Totally off thread
Highland Cathedral
There is a land far from this distant shore
Where heather grows and Highland eagles soar
There is a land that will live ever more
Deep in my heart, my Bonnie Scotland
Though I serve so far away
I still see your streams, cities and dreams
I can't wait until the day
When I'll come home once more
And so Lord keep me from the harm of war
Through all its dangers and the battle's roar
Keep me safe until I'm home once more
Home to my own in Bonnie Scotland
VERSE 1
Land of our fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country
In times of danger, we will set you free
Lead you to glory and to victory
VERSE 2
Hail, Caledonia, to our ancient prayer…
Scotland’s national anthem?? Maybe. It stirs the soul

Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Hoping the white cloud cover which has appeared isn't too low for tonight...

Re.National Anthem. I'd rather hear 'Won't get fooled again' when winning gold at the Olympics.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
What are people's expectations for tonight? On the plus side, the two storm days fell on non-flypast dates, but the flipside of that is that the previously forecast light cloud now shows as heavy cloud, and it's been overcast all day.
A grey Poseidon isn't exactly going to look great against dark grey clouds at 21:00hrs, assuming it even gets clearance.

Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Looking at the weather at the moment I very much doubt it will go ahead and if it does, the Poseidon - if indeed it is one of these it will disappear into the cloud. Sorry...
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
Only be sorry if you could have changed the weather.
You're only echoing my reservations. I suppose if we had the budget of the USA, we could afford to have examples of various aircraft in garish schemes which would show up better.
Such a shame after so many extremely clear days and nights that the great Scottish weather has chosen now to return to form.
Re: Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo Flypasts 2022
109 Sqn / Unknown 74, you both beat me to it. But I share your thoughts. I too think we will get zed all tonight! Yet, I see the civvy variants of the 737 coming into land on runway 6 from my house. I'm not holding out any hope for tonight
Warning; Military aviation is seriously addictive!
