My guesses would be judging by previous Flypasts, Typhoon, C-17, A.400, Poseidon, Hercules, Red Arrows, could be anything just have to keep a look out.

Just been wondering about the timing of the last flypast (26th @21:30).

It'll more than likely be dark then, so unless something is going through on afterburner (very unlikely given that someone complained some years back & there's been nothing since), we're not going to see much, if anything at all.

Tomorrow’s Edinburgh Tattoo flypast is an RAF C17 18:15L

6th RAF C17 18:15L
12th (Possibly RAF F35B) 21:00L
16th RAF P8 21:00L
18th RAF C17 21:00L
26th RAF Typhoon 21:30L

All subject to change

Yesssss!!! Brilliant! They're back! 👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁 My one problem is, I now live in Calderwood between Wilkieston and East Calder, I get the runway 6 action almost right above me, but do the flypast aircraft bank Northerly before the airport or after? Many thanks!

I've seen them bank North just before entering the Eastern perimeter of the Airport (Cragiehall / Turnhouse area), but bear in mind that the tower have, in the past, asked for a flypast too, so could be either.

Cheers Vandal! Looking as though I'm going to miss some during the week, that's if they take the Eastern perimeter route as you mentioned. I'll either head into Edinburgh by Meadowfield Park or team up with Stu at Joppa to get the C17. Anyway, regardless, I think I can say that the mood of the board here is, extremely happy to have them back 😁👍

Anyone know what sort of height they will be at over the castle and the direction of travel?? Considering a trip down and getting a decent vantage point, but it won't be worth it if it's going to be high in the sky. Can't see them having a C17 at 500ft over the city though.....

Always East to West for direction of travel.

For something the size of the C17, & from memory, it'll be low enough to get a good look, weather permitting. Locations in & around Arthurs Seat & Calton Hill have provided good vantage points, but I've never used them myself.

Just been on FR24. seems there is an A400 returning to Brize around 7,25 from Edinburgh? Is that another flight or is it instead of the C-17?

It's an A.400 tonight not a C-17 after all.......

Yes, definitely an A400M tonight ASCOT 439. Currently at a windy Joppa awaiting the flypast and then off home via the chippy!!!

Got quite a good view unfortunately only for a second as we've got a couple of trees in the way, but I saw it anyway so I'm happy.
