Death of Hercules

Post by vulcanxl425 » Sat Feb 27, 2021 1:08 pm

Daily Mail today reporting on Death of Hercules, stating that as part of cost cutting all RAF C-130J aircraft will be retired. They were expected to remain in service until 2035 as no other aircraft could perform it's high-risk role and much favoured by the SAS.The RAF will be using it's 20 A400M aircraft instead.
If this decision goes ahead it would impact on Marshall Aerospace at Cambridge and the workforce there.

The newspaper shows that the A400M Atlas has a speed of 889mph, very impressive !

Given that Marshalls has won a contract to service all the USMC C-130Js and recently also Kuwaiti AF a/c. Along with all the other work on other Hercs I doubt they would be short of work.

The USMC contract gives Marshall access to work on the fleet along with Cascade Aerospace of Canada so they won’t be servicing all of them.

Has the RAF given up on the last 2 the of 22 A400s?.. (reduced from the original 25)... 20 delivered but 2 more to come (both supposedly built ages ago c/n 075 and 056?)...
