The original question was/is suited to the ‘Mess section’, as it was/is a general question regarding aviation. The ‘Newbie’ section is were new members can introduce themselves if they so wish. Perhaps he should’ve posted it in the West England/Wales section, but I feel it wouldn’t have mattered, since being a new member they would have been derided regardless by those that think they’re experts just because they have a higher post count.

you must admit that a very quick google search could have resolved the issue, but as you said, im no expert and i guess you learn by asking! i certainly did at the mods expense! (sorry guys) :D

In my opinion this thread oversteps the mark
Couldn't be sure if you were being serious or not so I clicked on the link above in the hope of finding some derogatory or pornographic material. Unfortunately it's just a compilation of info on the loop.

To be fair I’m sure I’ve used very choice language before when some cv22/A400/F15 hasn’t come through as planned or I’ve otherwise missed :thumb:

Thanks Mike. I knew that there was a system but checking the FAQ it didn’t make it clear enough for me.

With a few exceptions, the rest of you seen to have a different set of values from mine when it comes to posting. I have encouraged teenagers to look at the site in the hope that their generation would gain some benefit(s). Gratuitous use of such wording is not suited for this forum.

Of course I don’t have to be an active participant but it would be a shame to miss out on the majority of the decent comments posted.

Blimey, you must know some sensitive teenagers. Keep them away from the Fairford bomb dump for fear of upset.

As for the loop, it’s terrible these days. Nothing goes through, no point whatsoever in visiting…

A Google search is all very well if you know in advance what you’re actually looking for, and that goes for everything not just aircraft. I recently needed info on ‘tattoos’, but rather than search up Google and get inundated with useless information which about 70% of the web is, I instead joined a tattoo forum and asked those that have first hand experience. One thing I noticed on that forum, I wasn’t made to feel stupid, pathetic nor useless unlike new members on here by some of the so called established, therefore expert members.

As for my comments. It refers to the use of them choice words. As for the Loop I would go with Finty on this.

Its not what it once was. Seems the Lake District and most others are the same.

Wow, well that post blew up more than I expected too.

Sorry for whatever offence caused. For posting in the wrong place. For asking such a newbie question etc etc

Thought asking here would get the information I needed direct from people who knew best

Thanks for those who actually answered my op

And for reference I have a teenage child and two children under 6. None of which would get offended by the word dump!

Back in the good old days all airfields had a proper fire dump, and some airfields like Shawbury, Kemble and St Athan had scrap dumps

Just sayin....

Indeed. I feel sorry for the new folks that haven't seen anything in the low level routes. I only did the Lakes a few times and that wasn't busy even in the late 90s.

Hi Matey,
I have avoided posting any response to the above comments...Good or Bad. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed at any part of my original two posts on your request. IMO the information & reference to Google was indeed genuine & well-intended. I have seen previous curt derogatory replies to new members questions like... "Google is your Friend!" & "just enter Mach Loop into search, Oh wait, I'll do that for you as well shall I?" This IS demeaning to New Members!
I don't visit the Loop nor ever have, but I have enjoyed seeing the results of other intrepid photographers. Some people approach life in a mindset 'as serious as a Heart-attack'... I don't! In my first reply i started with a jokey reference to your request for info', as there are numerous members of the Enthusiast Community who wouldn't tell you anything beneficial even under torture interrogation. :grr: ( see also this viewtopic.php?f=287&t=222846 for examples!)
Following on from the initial useful link I provided allowing you to find answers to your questions, I continued just looking at what was available? That's when I saw the second link, around third result down from my simple "Mach Loop" search entry. That site in my opinion contains all the answers & info' you asked for. So comprehensive as to include Accommodation, Access, Weather, Survival Kit, Safety awareness, etc...in fact everything except 'what to put in your sandwiches' (no bowel-movement speak this time!) & the Info' is 'Gold-dust' ! (No Canine Anatomy references here for fear of causing mental disturbance, PTSD & lack of sleep amongst the clinically over-sensitive, wherever you are? )
I hope you found the links helpful, including any other sites referenced to them. You sound like a younger fella that will enjoy the visit. I should be a 'miserable old git' (no offence to the demographic!), but I'm NOT! :D :D

Sadly LFA7 isn't as busy as it once was just like any other LFA. So many types have disappeared over the years. My local hunting ground is in south Wales around the Brecon Beacons . That used to be a very busy area even more so than the Loop, as aircraft used to carry out simulated attack profiles during their low level sortie . Any targets were used . Farm houses , factories , barns and even my Uncles car occasionally 😂. Sadly it's only used mostly by transports and helicopters now although the SJ Eagles made frequent use of it when they deployed to Lakenheath! Sorry to rant but this talk about the LFAs makes me do that! As it brings back great memories . The Loop is a beautiful area , the scenery is second to none and if you see any aircraft it's a bonus. Happy Hunting.

Concerns about the Moderators should go direct not open forum. Rather a slur IMHO. Or volunteer maybe?
