That's an interesting press release. I thought their first public display was at the 1965 Biggin Hill Air fair.

Ready to stand alone on this but still enjoy the Reds maybe their target market isnt the same demographic as this forum, but still see everyone raise their heads in Lincoln when they fly-past on practices. Pretty sure many are commenting without having seen this years display (compared with admittedly a few seasons of lack lustre displays for obvious reasons) maybe ask kids and non enthusiasts what their air display favourite is? I can say that 41 years of aviation enthusiasm stemmed from a love of the Reds here and still not ashamed to enjoy (politics and behaviour aside). Will be missed by many when they are gone and can guarantee the money will not be spent on extra display acts to replace or fill their gap.

They are a tired display team, with little changing between each season for the last few display seasons, no wonder many have little hope. Couple that with rife abuse, sexual harassment and huge ego's/self entitlement, then it is no wonder people don't want them/aren't supportive. Many argue that "changes within the team" will put a stop to this, but when something is so deeply rooted like this, it will take a lot to change.

The media merely gloss over these problems and they are still seen as a "British relic" and that is how they will always be portrayed to those who aren't that knowledgeable on their problems, and many view with rose tinted glasses.

I think you are underestimating the team and the Royal Air Force.

I would agree with the phrase 'A New broom sweeps clean'.

They are still a huge draw and I wish them luck 🤞

Aviation enthusiasts aside, you just have to look at the reaction of the general public after a display, they’re still a crowd favourite. We tend to be more critical of a display because of our interest in aviation. I personally think they are worth the money and highlight the RAF and British industry in a positive way. I’m sure they will still be very popular at air shows this season and they’re go down a storm in North America later this year. Being a former RAF aircraft technician, I may, of course, be biased!

I wonder if some enthusiasts from other countries see their teams the same way. I mean the frecce, for instance, has had the same display for years, but as we see them about once a year (if that) we don’t complain. Is it familiarity breeding contempt? Would those who don’t see the red arrows as often as we do view them as tired? Just wondering really

I agree the last few years have been negative but hopefully, these bad times are now in the past, the perpetrators dealt with accordingly and the victims get the justice they deserve.

Not sure they highlight British industry flying almost 50 year old jets.
