Low flying areas

Post by Pune » Tue Jan 21, 2025 11:43 am

Hi folks,
I'll be spending some time in the Llandrindod Wells area in a week or so, does any low flying occur in that area, any info' appreciated.
Cheers
Pune
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Much like LFA2.

Is used sometimes, wouldn't personally expect to see anything then be pleasantly surprised.

Properly low stuff is the exception not the rule unfortunately...

May get some stuff routing though, its a gamble.

Best of luck!

Texan's are pretty common as they often fly high to south wales and then drop in and fly all the way back to Valley at LL. Hawks also do the same thing but a bit less often. A400's also often route to Shobdon then into Wales in Llandrindod area on the way to Mach Loop.

I wouldn't expect to see anything more than a Texan tbh, that's the problem when there's so many valley and routes to pick from

Llandrindod Wells used to be a very busy part of LFA7 , it's not far from Rhayader & the Elan valley & that area still gets F15Es occasionally, usually targeting ground targets in the area. Newtown is around 15 miles North & is a good low level entry point for aircraft transiting to the Mach Loop from the East coast bases. Expect Texans , Hawks & A400s as the main movements over Llandrindod but you may get lucky with some frontliners, sadly low level movements are even more hit & miss these days. Best of luck.
