Good morning,
Is there any good reason to the retirement off RAF Hercules aircrafts and what's happened to them?
Regards.

Re: RAF Hercules
Replaced by the A.400M Atlas - whether a good reason is open for interpretation and has been debated on this forum in the past so probably best not resurrect that line. Of the older versions (C.1/C.3) either scrapped or sold on and the newer C-130J (C.4/C.5) either sold on or currently stored at Cambridge.
Re: RAF Hercules
It would be interesting to no if they have been sold on. Also I think we need them more than ever to work along the a400.

Yes as I said - some have been sold and and more in storage may follow. Either way they are not coming back into RAF service.

Apparently, Turkey intend to buy 12 ex. RAF Herks.

Re: RAF Hercules
And they may well be for their current or future forces but the MoD in their wisdom decided to retire them. As I said earlier this has been debated several times on here and they are still retiredM from RAF service and will remain so.
