Sad news, though not entirely surprising. I think they’ve been trying to retire the venerable Hog for years.

Absolute beast though, used to love seeing pairs and fours of these low over East Anglia. Those were indeed, the golden days of aircraft spotting.

Certainly will miss the unique whine of those engines on climb-out and the mid-air acrobatics the Hog could perform. Hope they make another return to the UK before they go.

Although it may not survive over a battlefield as much these days, I wonder if the A10 could be transformed into a great drone killer? Plenty of pylons to hold targeting pods and missiles for larger drones, plus the gun, and not over fast so could tuck in behind the Shahed prop driven type drones.
