Trump to visit Scotland

Post by Philwinward » Wed Jul 09, 2025 6:04 pm

According to Police Scotland, Trump is due to visit Scotland during August to officially open his new golf course . It was stressed that this was nothing to do with his State visit. Suppose he will use Prestwick ?
Poss E4 to Mildenhall ?

Looks as if this visit is going to happen during July, not August.
He will possibly also visit his other golf course s
in Scotland while he is here.
Apparently Starmer is going to Scotland for a meeting while he is here.

They still say this is not linked to his State visit,

The Golf Course is North of Aberdeen on the coast, i suppose Prestwick then either helo or transfer to a C-32 for the trip north to Aberdeen then helo to the course or by road but i doubt that as the traffic would be chaos, time will tell.

or a C-32 direct USA to Aberdeen. If it's a kind of private visit/business trip could a C-32 suffice for the entourage. Just a guess.

Didn’t realise that the golf course was on the east coast so it will be interesting to see which route he takes.
There’s also Lossiemouth in that part of the country. Poss could be used , don’t the US Navy have a detachment there with P8 ?

Lossie doesn't have a runway long enough for AF1 (it requires over 3000m fully loaded if if I remember correctly). Leuchars' runway is not far off Lossie's, so that's probably not an option either. Aberdeen is a definite no go, so that leaves Edinburgh/Glasgow/Prestwick. The distance from Prestwick to his new putting green is pretty far in terms of Marine One transport. It has the range, but do they not just use it for a short hop when road isn't an option?

Would Trump lower his standards with a long haul on a C-32? I can't see that to be honest.

Is this tying up with the State visit or totally separate? If totally separate then I would suspect Lossiemouth to be a strong contender for AF1 and support with Marine1 back and from Menie, Prestwick or Edinburgh more than likely though.

Regards runway length, Lossie is only 74mtrs shorter than Mildenhall, and AF1 doesn’t have any issues there. I’ve seen AF1 land at some US regional airports with runways shorter than Lossie’s. Lossie handled a 747(F) a few years back can’t remember if it was -400 or -800 but take off/landing distances aren’t that far apart.

Seems ok for Mildenhall at 2808m so Lossiemouth 2771m and Prestwick 2987m should be more than adequate. Prestwick to Aberdeen (straight line) c.150miles easy stuff for a MV-22 or VH-60.

I reckon Edinburgh or Glasgow will be too busy for an AF1 location, space there is at a premium, Prestwick probably the favourite.

Edit: A C-17 went into Aberdeen from Prestwick this morning (Sunday) which may well suggest that rotary support will be located there.

AF1 landed at Newquay / St Mawgan (2744m) at night in heavy fog without issues for the G7 summit in 2021.

Yes, on a long haul flight from Mildenhall.

More likely Security service support. No sense in basing helos at Aberdeen if he’s flying in elsewhere.

If we are talking about this one:

ID77177A,RCH4178 AAM 5120 71 192/MR0,0/AFEGPK,EGPD/TD130800
Based on prior uses of the 51xx mission numbers, this may possibly be a SECDEF or SECSTATE support flight. But obviously could still be a security service flight for those guys.
At this point these are still guesswork.

The State visit will be the 17th-19th September and centred around Windsor.
