Post by tg13 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 8:06 am

While the hype and pomp is building for todays royal wedding..i was wondering if anyone knows what the flypast consisted of for Charles and Dianas wedding in 1981,if indeed there was one?The front liners available back then in abundance..Lightning,Phantom,Buccaneer,Jaguar,Harrier,Hawk,Vulcan,Victor,Canberra,Nimrod,Shackleton,VC10,Tristar,Hercules would of made good viewing!!

Wittering was used for the flypast pratices in 1990, Battle of Britain 50th anniversary, wave after wave of aircraft; they were the days, still got the photos

Charles and Diana definately married in 1981 (29th July) I was on duty that day, Wills was born in 82 (just after we got back from the Falklands.) They were engaged at Clarence House in 80 (I was on duty that day too!!)
I don't remember any flypast though, but I was rather busy doing other things at the time.

I was fortunate to be in the crowd on St James' Park for the 50th aniversary of the BOB flypast (Now that WAS a flypast) my photos are in the loft , when I've lost some weight I'll get up there and scan them on here

Could you be getting confused with the 1982 Falkland victory flypast? I was only 4  but older bro says it was great
