Looks like our new aircraft carriers will not be able to dock at the RN's new facility in Bahrain: -

They were never intended to as far as I'm aware. Plan was always for them to anchor offshore.

True, but that wouldn't create a headline in a red-top newspaper...

From the article - "SNP defence spokesman Douglas Chapman was quick to condemn the MoD’s “incompetent” handling of building the facility". Of course 'expert' opinion .... says it all.

As has been mentioned, the pride of the RN is not being built to dock there, it has no need to.

There is a huge program of works going on, in and around Portsmouth harbour to get our new ones in...they will look pretty special squeezing through the entrance...

The article was from Forces TV, not a newspaper.

US carriers have no need to dock at anyone else's ports only their own in the USA, and of course the one home ported in Japan, why would they? that's what COD is for! and I would imagine the same applies to our new carriers, they don't need to dock anywhere except home port, and the apparent interest in procuring Ospreys points to future COD plans for the Royal Navy!

US Carriers don't dock in Bahrain usually, but in Jebel Ali, UAE. We are looking at a port in Oman if I remember rightly.
