Not sure what this term "new government" refers to. The US has had a single agreement with the UK since the 50s, there isn't a new set of requirements and new basing agreements written each time the US president changes.
If the US has agreed its exit from the base with the UK government, and the UK government has based a subsequent announcement about building new houses and raising money from their exit then I'd say the chances of a U-turn are quite small.

I agree regretablely but it is time to forget wishful thinking and enjoy what you are having and what you had.

Read last week that the first F-35's will arrive at Lakenheath in March 2021. Obviously that's the current projected target, a lot could change by then.

It can be viewed here on the iplayer... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... t-08032016
The USAF story starts at 06.10mins, I found it interesting & I certainly wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of the SPS dogs they had on show :O .

And there's plenty more where that came from!

Why does this Airseeker name keep persisting? It was a project name only. The RAF call them RC135W Rivet Joints and if my word on that isn't good enough, check out their own website:
http://www.raf.mod.uk/equipment/rc135wrivetjoint.cfm
There is no mention whatsoever of Airseeker anywhere.
Cheers

Been led to believe that the TDY RC 135s will relocate down here to Fairford and that whu there is so much work go on at the base to get it ready

Thought the Rivet Joints be going to Waddo -due to convenience - , commonality with our Airseeker, the support infrastructure already there ...

cheers

Wasn't there also some concern from the Americans over security (presumably due to asserts being based at Waddington) that helped kill the air show post runway re-build?

There may be room but does the RAF want them there?
