Don't know a great deal about wattisham but I'm not convinced that wattisham has anything middle wallop doesn't have.

Other than hardstanding (and a decent length of runway - maybe not relevant for rotary use but looking at the bigger picture) and hangarage perhaps?

It does. Wattisham would appear to have one more, and a HAS site too for dumping and forgetting about things.

There's been talk for a while about the AAC moving to Boscombe so that the MoD can close Wattisham, if anything is actually going to make something happen it'll be the SDSR that's coming.

It's not all of the AAC to Boscombe, just some elements from Wallop, freeing up room to close Wattisham.
