Can anyone match them up to military activity? Noted during 09 Hour Local.
I've had a look on Flightradar24 and Planefinder but no civilian flights shown in a holding pattern.

A mysterious aircraft circling the skies over a motorway in Wales has left drivers perplexed.
Bizarre streams of vapour trails were pictured scattered across the skies as baffled motorists drove along the A55 at Rhuallt near St Asaph this morning.
Another unidentified aircraft, possibly the same one, was also spotted over the Llyn Peninsula.
Some suggest the aircraft could be a commercial flight circling the sky while it waits for clearance to land at a nearby airport.
But a search of two real-time flight information websites found no sign of any aircraft flying over North Wales at the time, the Daily Post reports .
A motorist said: "The aircraft was flying in wide circles as I drove along the A55.
"It made a couple of wide circles and then headed off towards the west.
"I stopped in a layby at Rhuallt to take a picture on my mobile phone."
Tweeting a photograph Sandra Barford of Nefyn said: "Weird.. flying in circles over Pwllheli ."
She added the picture was taken at about 9.25am and it appeared there were two aircraft.

Lakenheath F-15's were in that region at the time, not unusual though. Saw them on VRS. Can't remember the flight call sign.

I saw 2 x 2 ships trailing through the Daventry, West to East at 10am Tuesday, I guess it was these guys RTB LN.

As noted by T_J at the start of this thread, that the esteemed national press appear to find fighter jet contrails over Wales a surprise. Even better are the reader comments that these are chemicals!

It truly scares me how some people are desperately in need of conspiracy theories, and will argue for that in he face of simple science to the contrary, not helped by non-stories and shoddy reporting by the likes of the Mirror.
What is it that this seems to be a fairly recent phenomena when normal fighter contrails produced via normal operations and that have been there for years suddenly become something unique and newspaper story, as if some unique aircraft or something has been spotted by Mr. Smith travelling down the A999 or whatever?

At least the ones that we see nowadays are generally on our side.
There has been an aircraft completing a very large diameter left hand circle, centred possibly over March in Cambridgeshire. Most likely a Typhoon at 40k ft.
How fortunate to be allowed to do that on such a lovely day.

Very similar action was going off over the east coast just south of Scarborough good visual with Bino's saw 3/4 F15's doing figure of eight ,north to south track and doughnuts stayed around for a good while, confirmed on 360radar
All that with a KC10 heading north/south thrown in ...

One of the local tinternet rags here...Wales on-line......had the view from "an aviation expert" as well.
"Aviation expert Tony Simpson told the Daily Post that commercial aircraft circling is unusual suggesting the normal explanation is that there may be a technical problem and is put in a circular holding pattern while the pilots try and sort out the issue.
He added: "But it may be the aircraft is approaching a busy airport earlier than expected and is marking time further away than the usual holding areas."
He is an expert..in Wales...under the Welsh MTA...and puts it down to commercial flights circling ??.....

Many thanks for the replies and the further confirmation of the F-15s. Conspiracy theories are easy money these days. The papers realize this and know full well that the likes of chemtrail believers will flock to the website.
The Chemtrail conspiracy has many layers and is a hard one to pin down. I guess that some people just need the bogey man in their lives and to blame the trails in the sky for all their troubles?
The conspiracy is getting out of hand though. The Chemtrailers are holding their first Global Summit in Vancouver, Canada this Saturday.

Wednesday was a great day for contrails overhead the West Midlands.Commercial airways traffic but still great to see it being busy. However there was a treat for me as at about 1715-1730 ish I looked up to see two contrails in close formation westbound. I'm assuming maybe a Reach flight, but would they fly two aircraft together like that?

The 2 contrails heading West on Wednesday over the Midlands early evening were Havoc flight 2 x Typhoon's heading into Wales at flight level 400
